Communication Program Presentation 2010 of ARCHELON
The annual Program Presentation 2010 of ARCHELON was held on the 20th February at the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre, welcoming many visitors including friends, supporters, members, and volunteers of all ages who honored us by attending the event.
The slideshows began with Theoni Karkoulia – Volunteers Officer, who was followed by Anthoula Toyia – Environmental Education Officer, Elly Tarabe – Adoption/Communication Officer, Smaro Touliatou - Projects Co-ordinator & Zakynthos Project Leader, Pavlos Tsaros - Rescue Network Coordinator and ended after approximately 45 minutes with Nikos Vallianos - Conservation and Environmental Policy of ARCHELON.
All presentations displayed interesting facts which either impressed or even surprised a few by their statistics. In some fields, 2010 proved to be “satisfying”, while others could not remain unaffected by the recent difficult circumstances.
During the “television” section, something new was accomplished by ARCHELON the previous year. It happened to be one of the first environmental organizations to promote itsʼ tv spot on monitors of the Athens Metro stations. An occasion of great significance, aiming towards the extended awareness and approach of new volunteers interested in working for the improvement of life on our planet.
Furthermore, a considerable increase was remarked in the “Adoptions” statistics of turtles and nests which is perhaps the easiest, cutest but also most effective form of support one could chose for ARCHELON and especially the turtles treated at the Rescue Centre who are in constant need of medication and food.
In conclusion, Elly Tarabe set some goals for the upcoming year 2011. An increase of 10% regarding printed publication, including more articles, stories and interviews, elaboration and sending additional Press Releases to the Mass Media, enrichment of ARCHELONʼs website with catchy news and topics and a 13% increase of Adoptions, accompanied always by the hope of success and progress!
E. Tarabe.
