ARCHELON's turtle toy travels the country with students and teachers

The Online Tour brings ARCHELON's environmental education program to every corner of Greece, offering thousands of students and teachers from all over the country the opportunity to experience firsthand the daily life and challenges at the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre! During the previous school year (2023-2024), 200 schools joined us, and 5,674 students and 548 teachers took an online tour of the Rescue Center.

By participating in the program, students automatically “adopt” one of the suffering sea turtles at the Centre, supporting the costs of their rehabilitation. As a reminder of their contribution, “Truffle”, ARCHELON's turtle toy, is sent to the school after the adoption. Thus, little Truffle gets to travel to every corner of Greece.

All students who received Truffle last year had the opportunity to participate in our competition, photographing the turtle toy in a special place in their hometown. The 129 photography entries were posted on the Online Exhibition. The 6,346 visitors of the exhibition declared their preferences by giving away 12,735 “hearts”! The 3 most popular stops on Truffle’s journey were Stylida, Lesvos and Loutraki, followed by Stavroupoli in Thessaloniki, Echinaioi in Fthiotida and Triadi in Thermi. We also received entries from schools in Larissa, Serres, Naoussa, Ioannina, Zakynthos, Kalamata and more.

We would like to warmly thank all the schools that participated in the Online Tours during the 2023-2024 school year and spread the message of sea turtle protection to the ends of the country! The online tours for the current school year have already started in November and we expect to see Truffle's new adventures, which this time will be captured on video.
