ARCHELON present at the 25th Annual
Dimitris Margaritoulis (founder and member of ARCHELON) and Alan Rees (Scientific Officer of ARCHELON) travelled to Savannah (Georgia, USA), in January, to attend the Annual International Sea Turtle Symposium. Several presentations were made which lead to many discussions and possible collaborations. The \"turtle people\" from Mediterranean had the chance to meet and share their experience in a very useful 1-day meeting.
Alan made presentations on two of ARCHELON\'s newer projects, namely sea turtle satellite telemetry and a survey for sea turtle nesting in Syria. This Symposium was a very special one for Dimitris as he took on the role of President of the International Sea Turtle Society. This is a great honour and responsibility for Dimitris as the main task of the President is to organize the next Symposium. It is the first time in 26 years of Symposium history that it will take place in Mediterranean area.
However, not even the President of the International Sea Turtle Society could defeat the power of nature and, because of a snow storm, himself and Alan were stranded in Savannah for an extra day.
