The lecture turned into reality: A real turtle rescue for the students from Kallithea!
How often does theory truly turn into practice right before your eyes? On Friday, October 24, the students of the 10th Primary School of Kallithea experienced such an incredible moment during their visit to the ARCHELON Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in Glyfada!
The visit began like any educational trip. The students were given a tour of the Centre, learned about ARCHELON's work, the threats that sea turtles face and how volunteers and rescuers work daily to care for them. It was a wonderful, knowledge-filled experience. A few minutes after the end of the tour the children entered the courtyard and started observing the sea. At this moment, right outside the Rescue Centre's fence, the students noticed a sea turtle floating in the sea!

With incredible calmness as well as excitement, the children immediately alerted the ARCHELON team. Within seconds, a real-life rescue operation unfolded before their very eyes! The rescuers rushed to the spot, working with speed and professionalism. The students watched the process step-by-step. Everything they had just learned - the theory, the observation, the rescue – turned into action in the most thrilling and educational way. The turtle was in the hands of the care team just a few minutes later.

The Rescue Centre and the entire ARCHELON team warmly thank the students and teachers of the 10th Primary School of Kallithea. On that day, our little friends proved that with alertness, observation and knowledge, we can all become the guardians of marine wildlife.
