ARCHELON's Virtual Tours Return for the 2026–2027 School Year!
A new school year filled with knowledge, creativity, and sea turtles is about to begin! Bookings for ARCHELON's virtual tours open on Monday, October 26, while the first tours will take place on Monday, November 2, 2026.
Once again, the ARCHELON Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in Glyfada, Attica, is opening its doors virtually, inviting students and teachers from across Greece and abroad to discover the world of sea turtles and learn about the efforts to rescue and protect them.
Through a live connection with the Rescue Centre, students have the opportunity to discover the stories of injured sea turtles receiving care at the facility, learn about the threats they face at sea, and explore how they can contribute to their protection.
The programme is designed for all educational levels and combines environmental education with interactive activities, encouraging students to actively participate.

From Learning to Creativity!
ARCHELON's virtual tours don't end when the online session is over! Every year, students and their teachers are invited to put what they have learned into practice and express their creativity through a different activity.
During the previous school year, students, with the support of their teachers, wrote original lyrics inspired by sea turtles and their protection. ARCHELON then set their lyrics to music, turning them into unique songs!
Among their sources of inspiration was 'Everest', the heaviest sea turtle ever admitted to the ARCHELON Sea Turtle Rescue Centre!
Listen to the students' songs in ARCHELON's Online Exhibition!
This year, sea turtles take on a new form through the reuse of materials!
For the 2026–2027 school year, ARCHELON invites students to unleash their imagination and create their own sea turtles using recyclable and reusable materials!
Cardboard, plastic bottle caps, packaging, and other materials that can be given a second life can be transformed into unique creations, combining artistic expression with awareness of waste reduction and marine environmental protection.
The students' creations will be featured in ARCHELON's Online Exhibition at the end of the school year, giving school groups the opportunity to share their ideas and artwork.

A Symbolic Adoption That Makes a Real Difference
By participating in the programme, each school class automatically symbolically adopts an injured sea turtle, helping to cover the costs of its care and rehabilitation at the Rescue Centre.
'Kromio' is a loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) found in Corfu and admitted to the ARCHELON Sea Turtle Rescue Centre on January 14, 2026, with injuries to his flippers caused by entanglement in fishing gear, as well as an ingested fishing hook.
Kromio's story gives children the opportunity to learn about the threats sea turtles face in the marine environment through a real-life rescue case. It also helps them understand how the Sea Turtle Rescue Network operates and the treatment an injured turtle may need before it can return to its natural habitat.
This school year, Kromio will be the sea turtle that students can symbolically adopt, connecting their educational experience with direct support for ARCHELON's sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
