Tourism and nature often appear to be at odds, especially in popular destinations where pristine beaches are also critical nesting grounds for endangered species. Yet, the approach of sustainable tourism is proving that these two worlds can not only coexist but actively support each other. This commitment to sustainability is at the heart of ARCHELON's new initiative, which was designed early in 2025 and approached beachfront hotels and businesses, seeking partners to help fund their conservation efforts. This approach provides a clear pathway for businesses to directly contribute to the preservation of the local ecosystem that makes their destination so appealing

Our Advocates
Hotels that actively support our conservation efforts with generous donations play a vital role in protecting sea turtle habitats in their area. By staying informed about proper beach management practices and enabling public awareness activities on their premises, they help ensure tourism contributes positively to conservation. Benefits include all those of the Friend level, plus a social media post (53,000+ followers), participation in events (e.g., beach cleanups), a staff training seminar, and an Impact Report.
Our Allies
Allies are long-term partners who go beyond support to co-develop and implement sustainable tourism models and conservation projects. Located on the west coast of the Peloponnese, about 50 km west of Kalamata, Romanos Beach has been systematically monitored since 2010 in collaboration with COSTA NAVARINO, aiming to record reproductive activity and protect nests from predators and flooding. Benefits include all those of the Advocate level, plus exclusive experiences in conservation projects, inclusion in promotional materials (newsletters, press releases), and the opportunity to co-host turtle-related events.
