From Budapest directly to the Rescue Centre!
The request to visit the ARCHELON Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in Glyfada for a tour was from Manolisz Glezosz Iskola. We were excited to learn that this Greek school is located in Hungary, Budapest!
Twenty students, from grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 participated in this educational tour among other visits at places of special importance in Greece. We felt honored when we heard that they arrived to us directly from the airport!

The children were toured through the facilities of the Rescue Centre and participated in the Environmental Education Program. "We were particularly impressed by the students' interest and the specific preparation they had made before their visit," says Olga Dretakis, a member of ARCHELON's Environmental Education Committee, who was present.
A quiz was organized by the students in the outdoor area of the Rescue Centre, right by the sea, giving them a beautiful closure to their first educational trip.

"The school was established in 1995, it works during the afternoon and teaches the Greek language and also folklore" says Dr. Christina Pactitz, Principal of the school. "The students are children of 2nd or 3rd generation Greek families or mixed families, who do not speak almost any Greek at home. The school was named Manolisz Glezosz (Manolis Glezos) in honor of the first Greek school in Budapest that operated from 1950 to 1965”.
The Rescue Centre reopened its doors to schools at the end of September. "We are pleased with the great interest among the schools for the Environmental Education Program that takes place at the Rescue Centre," says Anastasia Samartzi, Environmental Education Officer.
