The Agiannakis Environmental Station is revived once again

All students from the Bougas school who visited Agiannakis were thrilled to be informed about sea turtles and the substantial ecosystem of the Southern Kyparissia Bay.

They were toured around the exhibition area of the Station and observed a special presentation on the position of sea turtles in natural and human history, the severe problems they come to face and also what ARCHELON does to help together with volunteers and friends. During their visit, the students filled in ARCHELONʼs colouring books and played a board game which helped them understand the difficulties baby turtles encounter on their tough journey from a nest towards the sea.

Students discover sea turtle eggs on the beach of Agiannakis. After visiting the Station, the students took a walk across the beach of Agiannakis and overwhelmed by astonishment discovered some turtle tracks.

While following these tracks, always supervised and instructed by specialized researchers of ARCHELON, the children found the eggs of a turtle and afterwards covered them carefully again with sand in order to assure their safe forthcoming hatching.

It continues to operate by ARCHELON in collaboration with GAIAOSE (subsidiary company of the Greek Railways Organization) and support of the Trifilia Municipality.

(Nikos Vallianos) You may visit the Agiannakis Environmental Station on week days between 12:00 – 15:00 pm or contact us at 6951009785, 2105231342 for further information.
