ARCHELON EXHIBITION IN NAFPLIO
After an invitation by the Peloponnesian Folklore Institution (P.F.I.) ARCHELON\'s exhibition was installed in the old Railway Station, which the P.F.I. was using for the majority of the activities in Nafplio. The exhibition was open for the public from May 16th until May 31st 2005. Pupils of the area were guided to the exhibition and then they participated in games about fishing, the Mediterranean and sea turtles.
The release of the sea turtle \"Juanita\" on June 4th 2005, with the participation of members and volunteers of our society, was the highlight of this successful activity. The release was made from Karthona beach of Nafplio. Around 250 young and old friends of our Society were present at the release along with 8 journalists.
\"Juanita\" (Caretta caretta) arrived at the Sea Turtle Rescue Center on August 25th 2004, with multiple injuries on her shell and a hook in her abdomen.
ARCHELON would like to thank the Peloponnesian Folklore Institution, Mrs Popi Zahou-Kalkounou, as well as the volunteers and members of our society who assisted with the completion of this successful activity.
