«A strange day»: the film made by youngsters for the protection of sea turtles at the ARCHELON Rescue Center
A few weeks after the completion of the #turtle challenge3, a new opportunity arose! Our friend, director Iris Baglanea read the stories and told us "They are such interesting stories. It is really difficult to choose the most suitable idea for shooting a video, especially if there is no funding". After some thought, she added, "Wouldn’t it be better to work with a smaller group on a new script to make a short fiction film? I have always been interested in exploring how youngsters approach wildlife and nature, and sea turtles are a great subject."
The 3rd High School of Argyroupolis is a School of the ASPNET Unesco Network. We were pleased to see the distinctions that our collaboration received in the ACT PROJECT project of the Ministry of Education and Religions and in the Panhellenic Competition BRAVO! Schools for the 17 global Goals of Sustainable Development. The educational benefits of the action were presented by Ms. Souridis, Iris Baglanea and the children who participated.
The shooting of the film "A strange day" took place at the ARCHELON Rescue Center with the valuable assistance of “Neaniko Plano”, Dimitris Fytilis, and volunteers of the Center, observing all the protection measures for COVID-19 that applied at the time for film crews. The youngsters themselves were screenwriters, actors, sound engineers, cameramen and assistant directors. We thank them all warmly.
We look forward to seeing the film, which will be presented at this year's 21st European Meeting of Young Audiovisual Creation - Camera Zizanio at the 24th Olympia International Film Festival for children and young people and in other similar events abroad.
