The Rescue Centre is again filled with smiling students and teachers!
September marks the start of the new school year, and with it, the start of our educational activities at the Rescue Centre in Glyfada. Μany schools in Attica have already chosen ARCHELON’s Rescue Centre as the destination for their first educational trip of the year.
Here, children have the opportunity to meet the sea turtles, learn about their life cycle and biology, but also about the threats they face due to human activities. The visit brings out a respect for the injured turtles that are treated at the Rescue Centre but also for nature and wild life. Our aim is to raise awareness, inspire and motivate the new generation to take action to protect wildlife and the environment.

Many teachers choose to return to the Rescue Centre every year for their class educational visits and fill us with optimism. Their response this year is particularly important for ARCHELON. “After two years of restrictions, teachers are calling us every day to book a visit to the Rescue Centre. For the month of October alone, we expect around 1,200 students", explains Anna Kontoleon. "Having included in our program activities for the children to do after the visit, we feel that we are building a meaningful relationship with them, that we hope will last over time," she adds.
