Take Me There®: Greece is the new exhibition at the famous Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

Greece is the focus of attention in Indiana, USA this summer, where the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is located. Preparations for Take Me There®: Greece, are in the final phase and the opening is set for 15 June.

In the exhibition children are invited to discover the culture of contemporary Greece where modern life is taking place with a background of the ancient Greek world. Life in Greece is shown through art, food, music, dance, and architecture.

We are happy to announce that a part of the exhibition is dedicated in help for saving the sea turtles and was created in collaboration with ARCHELON! Big and small visitors will find themselves in a miniature copy of ARCHELON’s Sea Turtle Rescue center in Glyfada, where they will care for rescued loggerhead sea turtles. They will also be visiting a nesting beach space in order to count, measure, and protect turtle eggs. They will finally feed turtles their favorite meal—squid pieces, shellfish, and fish.

Take Me There: Greece promises to encourage children to appreciate other cultures, beyond textbooks. Because …”when we learn how people in other countries live their daily lives, we can accept and respect our neighbors—next door and around the world!”

For this joyful collaboration we would like to thank Veronica Kallas, one of the advisors of the exhibition, who approached us at the Rescue Center with this idea, as well as the rest of the Museum’s team: Cathy Hamaker, Jennifer Holland, Andrea Hughes, Monica Humphrey.

The mission of the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is to create extraordinary learning experiences across the arts, sciences and humanities that have the power to transform the lives of children and families. You can find out more in this link: https://www.childrensmuseum.org/.
