Niki Goulandris, the friend of Greek nature
She passed away yesterday, at an old age, a lady who played an important role in the appreciation and conservation of nature and environmental protection in Greece. Together with her husband, they established the Goulandris Natural History Museum in Kifisia, Athens, where thousands of children get to know more about nature every year.
A friend of ARCHELON, Niki Goulandris put a lot of effort in persuading authorities to issue the first declaration of the need to protect sea turtles on the beaches of Laganas Bay, Zakynthos, back in the 80’s.
Throughout the years, she maintained her interest for our work and the protection of nesting beaches. We will always remember her and hope that others will also follow her path of contribution.
