In August, the Sea Turtles Rescue Center in Glyfada is closed for visitors
In August most volunteers are in the field, monitoring and protecting the nesting beaches of caretta-caretta. The same goes for the Rescue Center in Glyfada, consequently the Center is not open to the public (maintenance works) and the weekends guided program (11:00 pm to 17:00 am) is not in operation.
Nevertheless, the Rescue Center always welcomes your help! Please join our voluntary program! If you are willing to volunteer your services, there is a variety of meaningful tasks and activities to be involved, such as (indicatively):
It is also an opportunity for all those interested in nature, either as concerned citizens or as potential volunteers in the environmental field, to be informed about the sea turtles: their biology, habitats, nesting beaches, their injuries and treatment and about volunteerism in general. In total, each year, 15.000 students participate in the environmental education programs we conduct whilst approximately 100.000 Greeks and foreign visitors are informed in various ways.
If you have any questions about volunteering with ARCHELON at the Rescue Center or other voluntary placements available, please view our site: www.archelon.gr and feel free to contact us at the numbers or e-mail address below: Tel: 210-5231342 (Theoni Karkoulia), e-mail: volunteers@archelon.gr
For 26 years now ARCHELON works successfully with the support of our volunteers for a common purpose. This purpose is the link between cultures and generations. It brings together so many different people, from different backgrounds and nations who all share a joint interest in making the change.(TBP/ES)
Help us grow our circle of influence for the survival of the threatened sea turtles! Together we can make the change.
