Another perfect moment in our struggle to save them all...
“Giorgos” is the later type. This 65cm loggerhead sea turtle arrive by ferry from the island of Sifnos on the 2nd of July 2011. He did not show any sign of fresh trauma, just signs that he had suffered a head injury in his past. He was quite active and rested often on the bottom of his tank.
After a week or so, we started to find evidence of plastic ingestion when he started to pass through some pieces of plastic bags. We tubefed him oil as well as fish paste to help him clear up and regain energy. After some time he started eating by himself.
After his medical treatments were over and he was eating steadily, we move him to a bigger tank for behavioral observation prior to release.
On Monday 10th of October we drove down the coast to the beach of Legrena where we watched him crawl back into the sea. Another perfect moment in our struggle to save them all… So long old friend… (P.T.)
