Sea Turtle Festival for Kids 2024
Save the date! On Saturday 18 May at 11:00, the ARCHELON Rescue Centre opens its doors to welcome young and old sea turtle friends who want to celebrate, explore, learn, play and travel magically in the Mediterranean Sea. We are waiting for you to strengthen our message for a better and sustainable planet!
The inspiration for our celebration this year is the journeys of the Loggerheads throughout the Mediterranean. ARCHELON in recent years has been using satellite transmitters which are carefully placed on the turtles' shells and record their movements. In this way, the adventurous life of turtles underwater has been revealed to us. From the nests in Kyparissia Bay to the Adriatic Sea, and from the warm waters of Tunisia to the rescue center in Spain, accompany the turtles on their migrations and help them complete their journeys safely!
This year’s Turtle Festival will include entertaining and creative activities for children and the possibility of a guided tour of the facilities with the injured sea turtles. Children must be accompanied by their guardians throughout the event. It's a great opportunity to get up close and personal with the injured sea turtles that are hosted and treated at our facilities and learn their stories!
