School Tours at ARCHELON: Reserve Your Spot from September 11
This year, once again, we are opening the doors of ARCHELON’s Sea Turtle Rescue Centre to children and teenagers. The magical world of sea turtles and the people who are taking care of them is waiting, offering you a unique experience and valuable knowledge. The most important message you will be leaving with is that the actions of children and young people can truly make a difference for nature.
After the tour, students can choose to participate to the educational program, offered by ARCHELON, which is entitled “Turtle Rescue Mission” – First-hand experiences in turtle rescue (Kindergarten through High School)
Here is an update about last school year: In total, 14,500 students visited the Sea Turtle Rescue Center in Glyfada, Attica, and had the opportunity to see the sea turtles up close and learn about the vital work being done to rescue and care for them.
In Attica, students came to the Centre with their teachers and took part in tours of the rehabilitation tanks, observed the daily work, and learned the personal stories of the turtles. At the same time, children from schools in Xanthi, Sikinos, and Rhodes joined online and enjoyed a live tour facilitated by our staff. We were also delighted to welcome schools from Denmark, Canada, and the UK, who traveled to Greece to visit the Rescue Centre and experience the magical world of sea turtles firsthand.
Our young friends didn’t contain themselves in just learning: moved by their enthusiasm and love for nature, they raised approximately €50,000 in donations, which cover medications, food, and necessary medical exams for injured and sick turtles. That was a true testament to how education can translate into meaningful action.
Bookings for the 2025–2026 school year will open on September 11 through our website, giving schools in Attica the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience and instil a lifelong love for the environment in their students. ** “Let’s experience it together”** is ARCHELON’s motto, as we work toward a brighter future for sea turtles and our planet.
