Gain experience in environmental education with ARCHELON!
Last year’s internships have been successfully completed and ARCHELON invites a new call for students,
Environmental education and raising public awareness are important parts of ARCHELON's action all these years in accordance with our Vision and Mission. At the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in Glyfada, we welcome dozens of young and old visitors every day, who take a guided tour of the site, meet the sea turtles up close and learn about their life cycle, the threats they face and the ways to protect them. ARCHELON's educational activities aim to raise public awareness on nature, the environment, sustainable development and climate change. Even in the midst of the difficult times of the pandemic, ARCHELON continued its educational work by adapting to online guided tours reaching out to many classrooms across the country.

This year, we are once again calling for students, undergraduates and graduates of all fields, who want to gain experience in environmental education through volunteer work or internships. Those interested will have the opportunity to participate in the organization and conduct of our educational activities, developing important skills, supported by ARCHELON's 30-year experience in matters of environmental awareness. ARCHELON maintains long-term cooperation with Greek and International Universities and Educational Institutions and supports young students and graduates who want to gain relevant experience.
"The contribution of young interns to our environmental education projects is particularly important..." explains ARCHELON's Head of Educational Activities, Anna Kontoleon, "...as they help us cultivate environmental awareness in an ever-increasing number of students".

Last year (2021), our educational tours reached 250 schools and 5000 visitors, with the support of our interns and volunteers. Last year’s intern, Fryni Papanikolaou tells us:
"By completing my internship at ARCHELON, I will forever carry with me the wonderful memories, experiences and knowledge about sea turtles and about managing children. I shouldn’t forget my pleasant cooperation with some of the most qualified people who adore these wonderful creatures and work hard for their rehabilitation”.
