As of today, the first hatchlings of 2016 will be swimming in the Cretan waters

Traces of the first hatchlings were found on Wednesday morning, July 13th, in the area of Adele Rethymnon. One pleasant fact holds the other, but at the same time and even more urgently, ARCHELON recalls the importance of implementing management measures during the hatching period.
As only one in a thousand turtles survives all natural threats, human activity also intensifies this problem. Thus, those who have established their businesses in the nesting areas of Crete must apply the following protective measures.

Public excavations will be announced on a weekly basis on each Municipality’s website as well as the ARCHELON official page and at Archelon information stands, at the Venetian Port of Rethymno, the old port of Chania and the entering point of Matala.
All teams of volunteers will be more than happy to welcome you and inform you on the importance of this magnificent protected animal.
