Since 1985 ARCHELON has been carrying out a multifaceted educational project all over Greece, approved by the Ministry of Education and based on modern pedagogical methods. Thus the Loggerhead (Caretta caretta) has become the most popular example of wildlife in our country and a symbol of life threatened by extinction.
The aim of the Environmental Awareness Programmes is to use sea turtles as an entry point to better illustrate how nature works and that humans are an integral part of nature. The programmes are carried out by trained staff of the Society and volunteers, most of whom are also involved in fieldwork on the nesting beaches.
A. SCHOOL VISIT TO THE RESCUE CENTRE
1. School tour at the Rescue Centre
Book a VisitThis educational programme can be offered in English throughout the school year for classes of all levels at the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in Glyfada Attikis.
We will welcome the class in open spaces created for educational purposes. You will be guided around the sea turtle rehabilitation tanks and the exhibition, you will learn their stories, you will watch videos with their releases back to the wild and discuss the issues at hand. The tour and toilets are accessible to wheelchairs.

2. Online tours for schools outside Attica
Book a VisitThere is also the possibility to arrange for a live online visit to the Centre for schools outside the Region of Attica, in English. You will be guided around the sea turtle rehabilitation tanks and the greenhouse with the injured turtles. You will learn their stories and observe the Xrays and the objects which caused their injuries. You will discuss the issues at hand.

B. SCHOOL VISIT TO A SEA TURTLE NESTING BEACH
This educational programme can be offered in English during June and September for classes of all levels, at the Environmental Station of Agiannakis in Messinia. Duration 75 minutes
