Special categories of volunteers
Field leaders
Field Leaders are volunteers responsible for leading the teams and ensuring the proper on-site implementation of sea turtle monitoring actions (Monitoring Field Leaders), public awareness actions (Public Awareness Field Leaders) and the good state of ARCHELON’s Research Stations (Camp and Volunteer Field Leaders).
Rehabilitation assistants
Rehabilitation assistants are volunteers who participate in all rescue and rehabilitation activities for injured/ sick sea turtles, they formulate the weekly and daily schedule of the volunteers at the Rescue Centre and supervise its implementation.
Part-time volunteers
People resident in the project areas have the opportunity to participate as part-time volunteers for a longer period of time. Their participation is organized according to the needs of each project.
Greek speakers
Greek speakers ensure that a number of school presentations, participation in local events, and communication through the information kiosks may be conducted in Greek. They also support Field Leaders in maintaining communication with businesses, public authorities, locals and Greek visitors.

What are the benefits of an ARCHELON Ambassador membership?
- You will have your own official ARCHELON ID Card as proof of your role and commitment.
- You will be featured on our website and increase your visibility and network.
- You will receive resources like brochures, posters, and material to support your efforts.
- You will receive a 10% discount on the participation fee for our volunteering projects.
The duration of membership in the Ambassador program is 12 months and can be renewed upon request. Every Ambassador will receive a certificate upon completion provided that they submit proof of their activities, such as photos, videos, or event reports.

Each year, we are proud to host individuals from all walks of life and age groups. Volunteers over 50 bring valuable life experience, dedication, and a spirit of community that deeply enriches our teams. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn, contribute, and be part of a unique conservation effort.
While responsibilities and basic requirements may remain the same for all volunteers, we understand that everyone is different. Your health, physical condition, and comfort will always be taken into consideration, and appropriate adjustments will be made whenever possible to ensure a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
