ARCHELONʼs Ambassador in Tirol
ARCHELON is going to participate tomorrow, 25th November 2016, in “Freiwilligen Messe Tirol” in Innsbruck, Austria. Representative of ours will be ARCHELON’s Ambassador from Austria, Tamina Freund.
“Freiwilligen Messe Tirol” is an opportunity for our Ambassador Tamina to materialize the Ambassador’s program “Nephele” in a very powerful and meaningful way since she is going to represent ARCHELON at the showroom of this exhibition.
“The exhibition in Austria”
The exhibition “Freiwilligen Messe Tirol” is a hub of domestic and worldwide volunteering and attracts every year hundreds of interested visitors. This year it has accomplished the gathering of local and well-known international Non-Governmental Organizations with a variety of topics in concern.
NGOs are divided under categories such as Youth, Health, Sports, Migration, Human Rights, Culture, Environmental Protection and etc. In this way, ARCHELON will be able to show its work to a targeted group of people who are truly interested in ARCHELON’s goals.
ARCHELON is most delighted to attend this exhibition for the first time and most pleasantly has the opportunity to show a very important part of its scientific work concerning the rehabilitation of injured sea turtles in real time. The Sea Turtle Rescue Centre will be able to go live streaming with the “Freiwilligen Messe” to show how a typical day of volunteering in ARCHELON is and its volunteers will be “honored” this day for their hard work done.
Let us take a closer look at our ambassador’s program.
The ARCHELON's Ambassador is an official messenger and representative of the Society in the country of his/her residency.
The Ambassadors are persons who have already had past voluntary experience working with ARCHELON in the nesting areas of Caretta-caretta sea turtles in Greece and share the concern for their protection and survival.
The main role of the Ambassador is to inform other young people about the need to support ARCHELON's important mission and also explain them how themselves can, by helping a leading non-governmental organization devoted to the protection and rescue of sea turtles for 33 years, make an increasingly more positive impact in the world's endangered species for many years to come.
So, the Ambassadors' program "Nephele" is designed to increase the number of young people volunteering with ARCHELON from around the globe, help attract donations and raise funding for the summer field projects and the operation of the Rescue Center and maintain, expand and foster ARCHELON' s current network and partnerships with diverse communities and people, thus enhancing our impact and our performance for positive difference in the world.
“Nephele in action”
Tamina Freund, Tammy, with educational background in veterinary medicine and currently studying geography and management macroeconomics knows how to take advantage of her studies and combine strategy through connecting people overseas for a unique cause.
Tammy was field leader of 2016 Zakynthos summer field project but also the basecamp mum of the volunteers. She was always there for the volunteers after a hectic day, for a hug, a small talk and just to give strength to them because another day would come full of excitement, exhaustion, persistence for the perseverance of this wild creature under protection.
She is now the one to share her ARCHELON experiences with the audience of “Freiwilligen Messe Tirol” for a hectic, exhausting, but at the same time, rewarding, exciting – a really special nest season.
As she has stated: “ARCHELON is challenging and makes people grow. Besides meeting people from all over the world, you get out of your comfort zone, start believing in yourself and get more open minded. You take people as they are and generally appreciate the diversity of things and cultures.”
ARCHELON volunteers start from young people in order to become adults, but most importantly warriors of environmental protection and heroes saving everyday little sea turtle lives…
So, let us show the world what ARCHELON is capable of.
Good luck, Tammy!
