Easter time with the volunteers of the Rescue Center
The ARCHELON volunteers in the Rescue Center, following the Greek tradition, dyed their eggs red on Holy Monday, and they experienced the Easter atmosphere during the Holy Week and Easter Sunday.
The Greek ARCHELON volunteers Dionysis Arvanitakis and Christina Dimakou invited the volunteers of the Rescue Center to their home on Easter Sunday and in this way the volunteers had the chance to experience firsthand the customs and traditions of Greece from roasting lamb to tapping eggs. The volunteers were touched by the hospitality of the Greek household.
Welcoming our foreign volunteers to the Greek households promotes familiarization with the Greek tradition and integration in the Greek community which is one of the goals of the European Volunteer Service Program. We remind you that ARCHELON accommodates 3 EVS volunteers: Danielle from Sweden, Fanny from Luxemburg and Alan from Ireland.
During Easter week the Greek Volunteer Team made handmade candles for Resurrection Day which were also given to the volunteers in the Rescue Center as a gift so as to feel like they have godparents like we do in Greece. ARCHELON also offered the traditional chocolate egg.
