The remarkably increased appearance of ARCHELON on the web
Many interesting information were presented during the annual ARCHELON Program Presentation for 2014, on Sunday, March 8.
Whoever attended the event had the opportunity to be informed about the Societyʼs actions on the nesting beaches, the Rescue Center and many more, leaving everyone with a bittersweet feeling, but also skeptical about the various positive and negative issues that came up throughout the year.
Nevertheless, there were also impressive statistics that accentuated the Societyʼs success in sectors like volunteering, turtle treatment, environmental education, as well as communicating these activities to the public, a task that has been steadily developing during the last few years.
The advances of technology have certainly played a key role, given that the articles published in printed media are now almost negligible, compared to the barrage of ARCHELON-related news and articles that reached the social networks and electronic media.
Letʼs take a look at some numbers...
347 articles about ARCHELON were published in websites, 32.019 unique visitors entered ARCHELONʼs website in July, whilst ARCHELONʼs facebook page had almost 10.000 friends by the end of year 2014 (now it has even more)!
However, the efforts will be continued, specifically aiming to intensify the press releases and articles, so as to accomplish more frequent updates, even through printed media that relentlessly battles against the majestic internet.
In addition, we intend to renew ARCHELONʼs website, using modern design, impressive images, rich content and information for every interested “visitor”.
There is no doubt that public awareness cannot be raised without proper information, and this is what we aim for. Better information for increased public awareness and more successful efforts towards the protection of the endangered sea turtles.
